Musing Monday #18: Musing About Munchies! (Sept. 23rd)

Musing Monday is a weekly conversation hosted by Should Be Reading!

Musing Mondays asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying about it.

Musing About Munchies

I don't usually eat a lot while I'm reading, but sometimes it's nice to have little snacks to munch on. Usually I like to eat baby carrots between lunch and dinner if I'm reading. (Around when I get home from school!) I also like eating raisins and Arizona Green Tea Packets (mix them with water: YUMM)

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're dying to read!
Wide Open (Wide Awake #2) by Shelly Crane

Milo is trouble.
He lives it, breathes it. He embraces anything that numbs and takes his mind somewhere else, a world where his mother is herself and not just a shell, and his brother didn't almost kill her, severing any relationship they had. But more importantly, Milo drowns out the guilt for leaving his mother and not being able to forgive his brother. He drowns his pride and moves on to another girl and another party, pretending that life isn't moving on around him and he's stuck in the same place. He's stuck in the past and doesn't know how to let go.

Maya is trouble.
She's done the party scene and has had her fair share of close calls and handcuffs. Not the kinky kind. She's so over it all and fought like hell for that life to let go so she could move on. She now works as a teen counselor. Her life is better, but her life is empty. She has no one but her brother in the whole world left and he's sick with a disease that no medicine can cure.

When they meet, a romance that scares them both emerges, but the love you fight for is the love that can mend bridges, heal scars, and open closed hearts. They'll need each other, they'll want each other, they'll have each other.
But will it all come too late?
Expected Publication:
December 2013

I loved the first book, and am equally excited for Shelly Crane's latest addition to the Wide Awake series. Also loving both covers! Aren't they beautiful?

Cover:

Synopsis:

"I’ve loved her since we were kids. But loving someone gets tough when they don’t love you back.

Nixon Black has made mistakes. He made one mistake that would change his life forever. Now he’s working and in school—and he's up to his eyeballs in responsibility--in the form of a three year old, red-headed genius. He gave up dating when Scout was born, but every night he retreats to another life in his mind, one he could’ve had with her.

Journey spent her formative years on the arm of any boy that didn’t expect anything out of her. She was hiding from the one person who did expect something in return—Nixon. Years after being cheated on and dumped for the last time, she takes a job at a daycare center where there’s a genius of a ginger haired girl whose last name is Black.

But the roles have been reversed and Journey is no longer Nixon’s first priority. Can he make room for the new Journey? And when he does, will he be able to forgive the old one?"

Cover Reveal: Luna's Heart by Christine Woo

Luna's Heart by Christine Woo

.
Cover:

Synopsis:

"I bet you’ve probably heard about a nymph…or not. Maybe you heard about them in a class back in like fourth grade. Maybe it was in one of those movies that you watch with a box of popcorn. Well their versions are definitely wrong. Movies are a pretty bad source of information when it comes to creatures like us. Nymph’s are really beings created with the Earth itself. We are the keepers of earth. After we become of age we reach our maximum power. For ages, Nymph’s have shaped the world that it is today. Well, this isn’t the other nymph’s story, it’s mine.
Luna’s life has been burned to ashes, literally. All of her family except for her brother has died in a horrible fire caused by the narcs, a race of paranormal hunters. For centuries they have killed beings like her, but that was twelve years ago. Now Luna is sixteen and living a normal human life with her older brother, Jay. Of course she can never be really human for she is a half nymph, but she tries. That peaceful life that they’ve created is shattered when Jay goes on a business trip. Luna faces a new dangerous power, love. She meets Kaden. A narc that is handsome and caring. Together they face an enemy who steals Luna’s necklace that keeps her humanity in check, without it she can go insane. Kaden and Luna try to sort out their teenage hormonal selves and the paranormal ones as well. When Sam, their enemy, cuts the necklace he shreds Luna’s sanity. It turns her into something that she feared about for years. Can she still love? Can Kaden save her?"

Ohh, nymphs! Very intriguing.
