Enjoy!

• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren't) enjoying it."

Waiting on Wednesday #3: Of Triton (Of Poseidon #2) by Anna Banks

I thought it would be cool to do a Waiting on Wednesday since I've been finding a lot of to-be-published books lately! Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine. It's a weekly meme where you talk about a book you can't wait to have released.

In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.

As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?

Release Date: March 28th, 2013

I loved the first book Of Poseidon and the world Banks created. The story was easy to buy into emotionally and the romance was written wonderfully. That cover has to be one of my favorites as well!!

Review: Every Day by David Levithan

Every Day by David Levithan

"Every day a different body. Every day a different life.
Every day in love with the same girl.

There’s never any warning about where it will be or who it will be.
A has made peace with that, even established guidelines by which to live:
Never get too attached. Avoid being noticed. Do not interfere.

It’s all fine until the morning that A wakes up in the body of Justin and
meets Justin’s girlfriend, Rhiannon. From that moment, the rules by which
A has been living no longer apply. Because finally A has found someone he
wants to be with—day in, day out, day after day."

Thoughts:

Sometimes "on a whim" is a good thing......

I had never read a David Levithan book before. I read Will Grayson, Will Grayson which he co-wrote with John Green and I liked it. I didn't really notice the difference in writing between them until I read this book.
John Green is a very funny and, well the only way I can explain it is like a large Russian man giving a moving speech kind of writer. David Levithan is different in that he adds some comedy, but this book (compared to John Green's books) is like a ballet dancer, or a fancy font on Word. This book was graceful, but had strong and tough parts that at some times were hard to comprehend and made me really think.

I think that the characters had real-life problems (besides the fiction aspect)that were easily relateable. The emotion was as clear as glass and at times cold as ice. I loved how this book took me from laughing, to gasping, to blushing, to smiling, and to coming to the verge of tears.
I think the author wrote the book in such a way that there were a few prominent themes, but there were some that you had to find and reflect on your own.

5 out of 5 stars

P.S. Dat cover.

Waiting on Wednesday #2: Love Notes by Heather Gunter

I thought it would be cool to do a Waiting on Wednesday since I've been finding a lot of to-be-published books lately! Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking The Spine. It's a weekly meme where you talk about a book you can't wait to have released.

"How do you cope when the people you care for hurt you the most? When the way you feel on the outside, smothers you on the inside. And when you are left to face your demons alone, will you learn that only you have the power to overcome them?Charlie has never had it easy. Between the constant moving and the incessant fat comments and jokes from her father, her self-worth is nonexistent. Her reflection in the mirror shows her nothing but a plain Jane. Music is the only thing that keeps her sanity in check.Charlie catches the eye of the town star quarterback, Maverick. With her curves, her brunette hair, and the voice of an angel, Maverick has never met anyone like her. Everything that is different about Charlie just makes Maverick like her more. Unfortunately, Charlie doesn't see it herself.Proving it to her may deem harder than he thinks, especially when tragedy strikes and tears them apart. Now standing on her own two feet she may finally     learn exactly who she is,
what’s she’s capable of
and how very un-plain Jane she really is."

I originally found Heather Gunter's page on Facebook after Lila Felix suggested it and said "Go show her some love!". I have been excited to read this book ever since the first teaser I read. Her writing is promising, and you know how much I love indie authors!

How It Rolls Book Tour March 3rd Stop: Interview & Review!!

I must say that when I saw the opportunity to join this blog tour I flipped out. I am so excited to be reviewing How It Rolls and doing an interview with the author herself!

Review:

How It Rolls (Love and Skate, #2)

"Despite the odds, Reed Wolfe is making it, by the skin of her teeth. Her dreams and aspirations will have to wait until she can get on her feet. Because right now she’s homeless and churning on a downward spiral.

Falcon Black is existing. Not living, not thriving, just jutting along a path. But when he finds Reed, he can’t resist the urge to help her, lighten her load. But Falcon tends to go overboard, over the line, crossing boundaries he never thought he would and risking her trust in the process.

Can she accept his love or will it end up smothering her?"

Thoughts:

This will be shorter so you guys can get to the interview :-)......

From the first book I've read by Lila Felix (Emerge), I have been continually falling in love with her writing, characters, plot, romance, and everything in between. She never falls short of expectations and the beauty of her writing is palpable, almost melodic. How It Rolls is no different, and I'd have to say I loved it just as much as I loved Emerge. The characters were as full of emotion as ever and the story was compelling.

The characters are by far one of my favorite things about the Love and Skate novels in general. They all have to dig deep to work out issues, and I really like that about her books. Reed is an incredibly fun character to read because of her stubborn side and also her vulnerability. Felix did a really awesome job balancing them to where the character didn't seem rash, but still wasn't a wuss. Falcon was a sweetie and he was so great with Reed. I just love all the Love and Skate characters Lila Felix comes up with, their relationships, and their interactions.

The story was as great as ever. The had to get over individual flaws, but they also had to work together. I love how these weren't necessarily in order, and that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Absolutely loved How It Rolls and so excited for Down n' Derby!!!

5 out of 5 stars

-M

P.S. And that extra chapter from Down n' Derby? You're killing me Felix! Gah!!!

Interview:

I was so excited to ask the lovely Lila Felix a few questions about her writing. Enjoy!

I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to answer a few questions. To start off, what inspired you to start writing?
I was originally told by a friend that I should write my story about when my husband and I met, so that’s Emerge.

What do you love most about writing?
I love getting new ideas.  I love to just stop what I’m doing and let those ideas hash themselves out.  It’s awesome.

How do you find inspiration?
Music, music, music.  I listen to it from the time I wake up until I go to sleep.  Right now I am really into M83 and Miner.

How have you developed as a writer as you've written more and more books?
I think, at least I hope, that I’m getting better at writing.  It’s a learning process for sure.

What is your writing process? What are some habits you tend to have while writing?
My writing process is...um...sitting at the laptop and typing.  I wish I had this professional, ritualistic answer for you but I don’t.  Ugh, I am trying to get over the habit of snacking while I write.  It’s mindless eating.

Simplicity is sometimes the best way to go! Why did you choose to write Young Adult, Contemporary Romance novels? What is your favorite thing about writing that genre?
I chose young adult because I don’t think I could write adult.  Let’s face the facts, sometimes I blush when I see risque commercials.  I love contemporary because it’s real.  It’s a genre that my readers can find, I hope, some way to relate to the characters and imagine themselves as them.

What are some challenges/things you love being an indie author?
I love being an Indie.  Let me say that again, I LOVE BEING INDIE.  Challenges?  Staying off of Facebook so I can write.

What is your biggest pet-peeve when reading books?
Cheating.  I just hate cheating.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with you there. I get all, like, "grrrrr!" The last question I have for you is, if you could have one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Why?
French toast, hands down.  I love it.  It’s so yummy.  Crap, now I’ve gotta go make some.

French toast is pretty amazing, though I prefer cinnamon rolls myself! Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions!
You're more than welcome! Glad you loved How It Rolls :-)

Now, it wouldn't be a proper tour with some awesome giveaways!! There'll be two giveaways. One for the US only and one that will be international. Good luck!
